TEHRAN -- Iranian director Kianush Dalvand said that his new animated feature about the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) in 680 CE “structurally will taunt Hollywood cinema.”

The animation entitled “Sinus” is in the final stage of production and will be voiced over in a month, he told Cinemapress, a Persian website for film news, on Monday.

“This animation is a different work in Iranian cinema and structurally will taunt the Hollywood cinema,” he added.

“We have spent 14 months producing the animation and the outcome is entirely satisfactory so that we can introduce it to the world as a valuable work from Iranian cinema,” he stated.

The story of “Sinus” is about Ubayd Allah Ibn Hurr Ju’fi, one of the bravest men of Kufa, who refused the request of Imam Hussein (AS) for assisting him at the battle of Karbala.

“The main subject of the animation is choosing,” said Dalvand, the director the 3D animation series on the life story of the Prophet of Islam “Muhammad, the Last Messenger of God” and the Persian epic “Battle of the Kings: Rostam & Sohrab”.

Mohammad-Hossein Qasemi and Dariush Dalvand are the producers of the animation, which is scheduled to premiere during the 34th Fajr National Film Festival in February 2016.
